(http://six.pairlist.net/pipermail/meteorite-list/2004-December/167307.html) The article said "Further studies are being conducted..." This link from the Arthur C. Clarke institute for Modern Technologies (http://www.accimt.ac.lk/space/sfunctions/meteo.htm) states the object "After conducting X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry analysis and several other tests the object fallen to Pulasthipura is confirmed as a rare type iron meteorite consisting of elements Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Zn. The meteorite with weight 47.015 g , Specific Gravity 4.75 was the first meteorite tested after the inception of meteorite testing laboratory at the Arthur C. Clarke institute for Modern Technologies, said Dr. Chandana Jayaratne." Their "first meteorite tested", no nickel present, and a very low SG? Does anyone else have additional info on this proclaimed "rare type iron meteorite" or this "meteorite testing laboratory"? Thanks, Ken Newton IMCA #9632 Received on Thu 07 Jul 2005 08:50:19 AM PDT |
