I am a dealer and collector which is a dangerous combination, and I cannot keep everything I buy. As always with most of the bigger dealers, you have to sell some things to buy others and most do this to expand their collections...just like Bob did. I know Bob pretty well and he blessed the specimens I bought from him with the statement..."you will do good with these, Matt". Even he did not care and knows that his name is used with the specimens. He is a gentleman but is also great businessman and marketer. Same for Nininger, Huss, and Monnig. They were hard-core collectors but also dealt meteorites to put food on the table. We all buy and sell specimens from those guys, and yes, I intentially buy specimens with labels from Nininger, Huss, etc...just for resale! That is what my customers want and they will in turn, be appreciated once again. I bought a few pieces from Bob, about half are sold, the other half are staying with me. The world goes on.... Greetings. This is something that has got under my skin a bit this past week, and need to do a little venting, even though it might bring some people down on me. After being in Tucson at the show a couple of weeks ago, and spending a bit of time in Bob Haag`s room, and seeing the great sales that he offered to people, including myself. I`m just amazed that these same people are now turning around, selling thier specimens that they got from Bob, and using HIS NAME to make a profit from these purchases from him! I know that this is probably just business, but seems a little unethical to me. They are not bad people, but just seem a bit too greedy! I know of a couple of pieces that other collectors would have liked, but were gone before they even had a chance at a great deal, specimen and provinance! Hopefully this kind of practice does not affect future deals from certain individuals, and REAL collectors can benefit from the these kinds of sales, and appreciate the specimen for what it is, and not something to make money on. There, that is all I have to say on that, and I WILL NOT be selling the pieces that I got from Bob! Dave __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
