Wow! That's about the coolest thing I have ever heard. A diamond-bearing meteorite in the jewel collection of a Rajah! And 150 years ago to boot! I had not seen this reference before, but I knew there was some missing information as to where Goalpara came from. To me, Goalpara is a good candidate for a witnessed fall, but almost everything lists it as a find. I had a wonderful 10g piece of Goalpara in Michael Blood's auction but it did not sell. Maybe that is good thing now that I know a little more. ARN has an online reference that tells a similar story at: http:/ /www.arn-meteorites.com/MET_G.HTM And the Geological Survey of India catalog lists it as an 1868 fall with the date and time unknown. If anyone knows more about this, I would love to know about it. Gosh, another find in my collection became a fall. All I had to do is wait.
