Most of you have heard the wonderful news that Meteorite Magazine will now live on! During the time that we all thought we had lost Meteorite for good, a number of us put our heads together to discuss what to do for Joel and this is what we came up with: In thanks for, and recognition of eleven years' hard work bringing us such a great magazine, we are collecting funds that will be used to purchase a special meteorite gift for Joel Schiff. We have just the perfect thing in mind. If you'd like to get involved, here's what you can do: Send a cash gift via PayPal or check to Maria Haas, who is in charge of collecting and tabulating. My email and PayPal account is: dragonsoup_at_msn.com. I can accept credit cards, debit cards and bank account payments through my PayPal. Those who are uncomfortable with or unable to use PayPal are welcome to contact me for my mailing address to send a gift an alternative way (cash, check, money order, etc.). If everyone who has enjoyed "M" donated $10 or more, we'd be able to acquire a stellar gift for Joel. This would mean a lot to him while he is recovering from his illness. Geoff will design a one-of-a-kind certificate, on behalf of the meteorite community, to go along with the gift and we'll notify you of the nature of the gift. We should keep our discussions about this off of lists as much as possible to reduce the chance of spoiling the surprise. Those of you who so kindly donated their subscription refund to the cause need not be concerned about interruption of your subscription as your funds still remain with the magazine. Of course, if you were interested in making a cash donation for the same amount your refund would have been we would cheerfully use it to purchase his gift. :) We don't want anyone to miss the chance to get involved so please pass this along to every meteorite enthusiast you know! Thanks to those of you who have already sent donations. Please feel free to contact either of us with questions. Sincerely, Maria Haas (dragonsoup_at_msn.com) Geoff Notkin (geoking_at_notkin.net) Received on Fri 02 Dec 2005 02:21:07 AM PST |
