Moin Martin!

Ahmed (Cologne) - a mineral dealer - wasn't so bad those times. He sold large Allende pieces (I bought about 10 kg from him) for 0.7 DM/g (approx. 0.3 $/g). Not so bad indeed compared to present prices! Germans may also remember Hans Rodewald (Heidelberg) who sold nice Nuevo Mercurio individuals (many oriented) and etched slices of Toluca, back in 1983.

In the USA, Glen Huss was another good source for nice meteorite specimens. I bought a lot from him when I started collecting in the early 80s. And, not to forget Marlin Cilz, who had (and still has?) the most beautiful Museum-size slabs of etched iron meteorites for sale (remember Maltah?he, Orange River, Ocotillo, Guadalupe y Calvo, Watson...)
