Hi All,

It it a sad day for the Genesis team. I was in Salt Lake City a few
weeks ago for a Genesis conference and was thrilled at both the
potential discoveries of the mission, and the advancements in
technology necessary to create this almost perfect spacecraft. The
Genesis scientists were so excited and hopeful.

My heart goes out to them for they have so many years of their life
invested in this project. I remember seeing the Genesis craft in a
clean room at the JPL and had no idea what I was looking at. It was so
unconventional that I did could barely make sense of what I was looking
at. Once in space, the gorgeous craft was essentially the purest thing
ever made by humans.

In the video link below, it is clear that there is a pattern to the
'tumbling' of Genesis. I wonder if it is not too much of a stretch to
imagine that an oriented meteorite would make a similar, albeit much
faster journey to the earth.

In another feeble attempt to pull some good from this, I am impressed
with such a classic crater formation, with a rim, rays, and intact
projectile.
