It looked like a meteorite, but a magnet would stick to a piece of glass before it would stick to this rock. It has a little caliche on it too. The first pic shows the color of the "crust" and the window I made. The second pic shows a close up of the "crust" but I could not get the brown color to show up. The matrix is dark gray, almost black. It has some white little lines (see third pic) that look like feldspar (?) but then I thought of augite and pigeonite crystals that are found in some meteorites, so.... It also has a few inclusions that can be seen in the forth pic. What do you all think, back to the meteorwrong pile, or worth a further look? http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/MVC-011S.JPG http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/MVC-022S.JPG http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/mvc-014s.jpg http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/mvc-017s.jpg Thanks, Tom peregrineflier <>< IMCA 6168 http://www.frontiernet.net/~peregrineflier/Peregrineflier.htm Received on Sun 14 Nov 2004 03:45:35 PM PST |
