--------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to Deep News - the official newsletter for the Deep Impact
mission to make a deep crater in a comet. The dual spacecraft for
the mission have moved into environmental testing which are really
several different kinds of tests. These tests help assure that the
spacecraft are ready to launch this December from Cape Canaveral. To

QUESTION FROM YOU - HEY, WHAT'S WITH THE SHOES IN THE CLEAN ROOM?

answer.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL - MEET MIKE BELTON If you like to golf, why
would you retire and then start your own company for space
exploration? Deep Impact deputy PI tells us the answer as we get to
know him better.

copper in our impactor? Deep Impact Solar System Educator Dee
McClellan and her class are going to find out. Read on to see what
they will do with all those pennies once they have them.
