Dear List,

We were fortunate to meet both Dave McKay and Everett Gibson mentioned in
this article in Tucson a couple of years ago and again at the Lunar and
Planetary Conference in Houston. They are both some of the friendliest
people you would hope to meet.

We were very lucky to work out a deal with Everett Gibson regarding
Hollbrook material. He found a large Hollbrook in the sixties that fell
into several fragments when he removed it from the ground. Not only is he a
famous scientist but a successful meteorite hunter, as well. He had a jar
full of these fragments with his label on it. He told us the history of the
fragments and showed us a paper he authored regarding the weathering effects
of this particular fall. He sadly relayed the story of how this jar of
fragments was in the safe that was stolen from NASA along with the lunar
samples, a piece of ALH84001 and his meticulous notes regarding this now
famous meteorite. He was very kind in providing us with a written statement
regarding the history of this jar of Hollbrook even though it brought up the
unpleasant fact that he permanently lost decades worth of his scientific
notes since they were never recovered from the now famous heist. Not only
did these thieves ruin their own careers they had a devastating affect on a
very prominent scientist.

We place this jar of Hollbrook fragments at the top of our collection along
with our respect for Everett Gibson as both a meteorite hunter and a
scientist.

All the best,

Adam and Greg Hupe
