Well, some meteorites do indeed contain minute amounts of gold. Here are some examples: Bayard, L6, 0.180 ppm Au (parts per million / Au = aurum = gold) Melrose (a), L5, 0.30 oz. (ca. 8.5 g) and 0.32 oz. Au per ton Orgueil, CI, 0.145 ppm Au Bencubbin, CB3a, contains diamonds Chuckwalla, IAB, Au = 1.468 ?g/g - Chuckwalla also contains preterrestrial, impact-produced diamonds with sphalerite some diamonds are even visible macroscopically (!) Allende contains interstellar/presolar (nano-)diamonds* Abee => diamonds of solar nebula origin (not of shock-produced origin!), Acfer 182 contains diamonds Numerous ureilites contain diamonds *Presolar diamonds have also been found in Orgueil, Semarkona, Bishunpur, Ragland, Mezo Madaras, ALHA77214, Tieschitz, Dimmitt, Qingzhen, Indarch, Leoville, Vigarano, Kainsaz, Axtell, RC 075, Efremovka, Boriskino, Kaidun, etc. > Have a nice Sunday Thanks, we had a nice, sunny Sunday here in Southern Germany with tasty asparagus for dinner and garden work afterwards to compensate for the asparagus :-) Best wishes, Bernd To: josecamposcomet_at_netcabo.pt caubeck_at_yahoo.com meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com Received on Sun 02 May 2004 02:59:22 PM PDT |
