Simply put, Aristotle was wrong in one sense when he professed that the heavens were perfect. Tom, weren't you the one who complained that Pluto nearly crossed gas giant Neptune's orbit? That might start giving your daughter some ideas of what could have happened in 5 billion or so years of being on the merry-go-round... PS, Our Moon is inclined at 5 degrees. Any ideas on how that might have happened? Mercury at 7 degrees. Pluto at 17 degrees. Saturn at 2.5 degrees. Only Earth is less than three quarters of a degree. As a matter of fact, by this measure Earth is inclined at 0.000 degrees. What do you think about that, Earth being perfect and all. Maybe Jupiter passed by Earth a one point and our planet sent Jupiter 1.3 degrees out of kilter?
