indeed the book was:

THE METALLOGRAPHY OF METEORIC IRON
Washington 1944. Smithsonian Bulletin 184. 8vo., 206pp., photo illus.,
hardcover.

Chris Monrad also listed immediately the results of an anticarian search
engine,
there exist also a reprint from 2002, which costs twice as much as the
original book.

I recommend the original book (starting at 30-40$) warmthly and will let
those, who are interested in first theit copies, before I will order for me
in one week.
