Dear Ken, List members, fellow IMCA membership;
My serious thought is that ebay is years behind sending out this
email.....I feel that IMCA or individuals with IMCA backing should offer
some form of assistance, or have ebay add a link to meteorite auctions
to a basic meteorite info page, or IMCA page.....either or....that page
probably already exists somewhere...even a basic meteorwrong
identification page, or three.
The two fold effect would be: to offer some comfort to the buyer and to
increase buyer knowledge of the IMCA and of any concerns being an IMCA
AND EBAY concern, and on the seller's end to positively remind sellers
that SOMEONE THAT KNOWS METEORITES AND METEORWRONGS AND EBAY has a link
to their auction. With a link on the #3239 auctions, all would be
treated the same, and the frauds would realize that there is someone
there, and ebay would have some guidance when any suspect items come up.
And that is my opinion. Those hundreds of honest meteorite dealers
would be blessed to have IMCA link on their auction whether they are a
member or not, and the scoundrels and miss lead sellers would have to
stop and think twice...and ebay would have some help, or one more rung
in the ladder to buyer/seller safety.
Hope this is helpful,
Dave Freeman
