Ryan,

If it's been cut or sliced, it's probably already had cutting coolant
(water or oil) and maybe alcohol all over it, so unless it's a pristine
specimen, then it's already been subjected to terrestrial water/liquids.

Anhydrous Alcohol (99+% ethanol) is best for cleaning since it will
pretty well totally evaporate away, unlike distilled water.

Good Evening List,

As long as we're talking about cleaning specimens, would isopropyl
alcohol be ok for touching up an achondrite? Due to the fact that it has
30% water content, I wouldn't use it on any visable metal bearing
meteorites. But would it be ok on an achondrite? Any input will be
appreciated. Thanks!

-Ryan
