The meteor was seen by parties in Tucson as it show= toward the southwest. Although the sun was high, the meteor illuminated = the sky and seamed to have burst at the horizon. El Progreso, a Spanish p= aper receiving in Tucson, contains an article describing the shock at Alt= ar and the terror of the people when the meteor fell. It struck the earth= about fourty miles from Altar, but the shock there was terrific and the = people thought it was an earthquake. An exploring party will go out from = Altar to try and find the place where the meteor fell. (Mark note: Meteorites A to Z does not show a meteorite having fallen on = June 11, 1901 in Mexico and having been recovered. It does show an unrela= ted meteorite that fell June 10, 1901 23:00 in Pakistan).
