The need for this new series has been recognized for some time. NEA001 (Provisional) was submitted to the NomCom as a "Lunar meteorite (Anorthositic Regolith Breccia)." A gray stone weighing 262 grams was found by a prospector in northern Sudan near the Libya/Egypt/Sudan boundary in April of 2002. A type specimen weighing 20g was submitted to PCU. In addition, 59.66g is with the Royal Ontario Museum. A secondary type specimen was to deposited to the University of Washington and most of the rest is with four collectors including ourselves. Several laboratories are now engaged in the study of this rare highlands regolith breccia with about 5% mare component. As always, the name and classification are provisional until voted on by the committee (making it accepted, but still provisional), and then finally it would become official next July in Met Bull 89. Six of the nine samples placed on ebay are still available, the rest have been sold. I will include the classification data that was submitted to the NomCom but do not want to publicly release this data as the scientists who worked on it should be given this pleasure.
