One of the 17 fatalities did occur here in Rhode Island, however. A 66 year old Massachusetts man was swept from the rocks in Narragansett, where he had gone with his wife to view, with thousands of others, the huge swells and surf. Indeed the surf from the storm was such that surfers from up and down the east coast flocked to southern Rhode Island for the opportunity to test their skills. I know some arrowhead hunters in North Carolina who will be cleaning up from the beach erosion there. In fact, to facilitate arrowhead hunting my wife was actually hoping for a direct hit. I reminded her that with no roof over our heads, and our vehicles floating down Narragansett Bay, I'll take my chances with a sunny day thank you :-) Best wishes, Charlie Received on Sat 20 Sep 2003 03:16:04 PM PDT |
