When I lived in Santa Cruz, CA there was a "flock" of three parots that lived in the banana belt people saw all the time. I think this describes the northern most range of these tropical birds.

Neat. They are different than the Monk or Quaker
parakeets, apparently found now in many states of the
US:

These are the ones that established a colony of about
50 in my neighbor's back yard for several years.
My last word on this OT. Just wanted to point out how
widespread these "tropical" birds have become in the
states.
