The = first on was unusual named meteorites, such as Camel Donga = ,Dalgaranga,Guadelupe Y Calvo, Millbillillie, Quenggouk, and = Lanzenkirchen to name a few. The names would strike my fancy and I = would buy them. I also collect Heart shaped meteorites and tektites. These are mostly = for my wife for obvious reasons. We have about 8 whole heart shaped = pieces and several slices that are heart shaped. We have one beautiful = heart shaped slice of Gibeon that has our names and wedding date etched = on it that we got from Paul and Jim of the Meteorite Exchange as a = wedding present. I also have one Sikote-Alin that has been sliced and has a inclusion = that is the letter "A". Cheers Alan Gayda ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Walter Branch=20 To: Meteorite Mailing List=20 Sent: Monday, October 20, 2003 3:30 PM Subject: [meteorite-list] Collecting Habits Hello Everyone, I have been thinking of the different ways to collect meteorites = (e.g., type, class, location, etc.) and I was wondering if anyone would = care to describe their collecting specialties or subspecialties. The = reason I ask is because I have gotten interested in a sort of unusual = specialty area - the find or fall consisting of a single specimen. TKW = is not an issue as it would be paired with no other specimen. An image comes to my mind of a single, lonely meteorite, a common = chondrite, out on the plains of the midwest US (for example) sitting = there for hundreds if not thousands of years, just waiting to be found = by anyone. Maybe it was looked and wondered about scores of times by = many a passerby or maybe just ignored. Anyone else have this interest? I would be interested in hearing = about others collecting interests.
