Are there any specific types that are good for beginners? Currently I just have a few fragments of the recent Indian meteorite fall in Orissa. Well, I would imagine that a lot of collectors reading this might want to trade a LOT of stuff, in exchange for those Orissa pieces. ;-) Seriously, you might want to start here: http://www.meteoritecentral.com/ http://www.meteorite.com/ http://www.meteoritecollectors.org/ This will give you some insight into the hobby, the rocks themselves, and the various dealers therein. There are plenty of meteorite specimens to be had on those dealers' websites, and most listees (with one notable exception ;-) would recommend that you do a meteorite-search on ebay, for some usually-cheap entry-level specimens. Good luck! Gregory J.
