Hi Ken and List,

> Hope you can all get a clear sky tonight for the Aurora in progress
tonight.
> I have a fantastic view here in Ireland.

Glad to hear the storm is still going strong -- others observed it early
this
morning as far south as Michigan and Wisconsin:

www.spaceweather.com <http://www.spaceweather.com>

An X-1 (approximately) class solar flare occurred earlier today:

http://www.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/xray_5m.html
<http://www.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/xray_5m.html>

so auroral activity may continue to be high for the next couple days. It
is currently at level 10 (the only higher levels are 10+ and 10++):

Giant sunspots 486 and 488 (which wreaked so much havoc a few weeks ago)
have rotated back onto the solar disk and could generate additional large
flares and coronal mass ejections.
