He did not come over as a major loon, and had at least submit= ted the material for testing - I was more concerned about your dogmatic statement that there was NO WAY any impactor could POSSIBLY exist - which= we know is untrue (cf. Lake Murray) and I just think that although it is ver= y unlikely to be part of the Chixculub impactor, I for one would not just write someone off because of their naivety. None of us are perfect in th= is workaday world and I just thought he deserves a dignified treatment inste= ad of being dissed.=0D Let's face it, the Frass and BCC thing is obviously the products of an unmedicated consciousness - just by virtue of their approach and writing = you can see that we possibly have an undiagnosed mental health condition in t= hem (not for us to judge, of course) and we also put up with endless stuff fr= om Yousef and his total arrogance. =0D I just thought it was a bit refreshing to see a more gentle approach to t= he enquiry. If Dr Kring 'laughed' then I am surprised as surely the key to being a scientist is to be open in one's approach, fair in research, and accurate in reporting and as non-judgemental as possible until all avenue= s have been explored. I am sure he said it was 'unlikely' but I bet he'd laugh a lot more at Frass or BCC!=0D =0D I have absolutely no idea of the geological processes that have occurred = in the Chixculub basin over the past 65MY but I still would not rule out tha= t tectonic processes would 100% guarantee that the traces of impactor would not be consolidated into the upper strata then weathered out.=0D =0D Who knows? You are almost certainly right - but let's give him some credi= t!=0D =0D very best=0D =0D =0D dave=0D =0D IMCA #0092=0D =0D -------Original Message-------=0D =0D From: Michael Farmer=0D Date: Saturday, November 15, 2003 17:23:16=0D To: Dave Harris; metlist=0D Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Chixculub material testing=0D =0D Look, I already discussed this with Dr David Kring, who has been working = on=0D Chixculub for the last 10 years, he laughed so hard he almost choked.
