'Fireball' spotted

Tauranga police called out an aircraft about 1am yesterday after
a Papamoa resident reported seeing a large "fireball" out to sea.

The single-seater Cessna searched an area around Mayor
Island for an hour and a half but found nothing.

No other sightings were reported.
