Hi Harlan,

I have used Ohaus and Acculabs and they are great, but overpriced in my mind. There is some serious pressure from Asian companies who are producing excellent products as a third to a fourth the price. One comapny is Gram Precision

http://www.gramprecision.com

I have two of their scales and the price was amazing, they are just as accurate as my Ohaus, they are smaller, and self-contained in built-in cases. I also think they are more durable but I don't know that for sure since I have yet to break any of them.

In fact, at one recent science convention, I got a milligram scale for a hundred bucks! It's amazing! I actually needed it because I guessed wrong on a specimen I sold and thought I better add a degree or two of precison to my measurements.

Good luck.

Martin
