For those of you who don't know, the Brenham strewnfield is located very near Greensburg, and at "The Big Well" in Greensburg, is housed, as they claim "The World's Largest Pallasite Meteorite." This specimen is the 1,000 pound "Main Mass" of Brenham. Is it at 1,000 pounds the largest Pallasite in the World? At the time the billboards were first made (probably around 1950) was it the largest? At the time the billboards were most recently renovated (probably by the looks of them around 1980) was it? Was the Brenham total strewnfield total recovered weight the "World Largest?" Is this a ploy used by the locals to get more people to stop and spend more money in their town, even if the truth might be stretched a little? Does anyone want to file a lawsuit against the Greensburg Chamber of Commerce claiming a breach in "truth in advertising?" Does anyone think the Chamber of Commerce (the owners of the 1,000 stone) will want to change their ads to say: "Come see the 2nd or 3rd largest pallasite ever found in the world, and possibly the largest still intact, and definitely the main mass from the Brenham strewnfield - at least known recovered main mass from the Brenham strewnfield - unless you head to Grossman's definition to 2x, then the big one at T.C.U. at around 600lbs, would disqualify ours as being an official "main mass" - but it is still a big rock, located next to the World's largest hand dug well, unless you count that big one over in Russia..." Do we on this list all go along with such "stretching" just hoping more people who stop at The Big Well will be awed by the big meteorite in hopes that more people will become collectors? Not that these questions need to be answered, even if they could be. And all this reminds me of the numerous "World's Largest Fireworks" stores I pass just driving from Arkansas to Chicago. Can they all be the world's largest?
