METEOR EXPLODES AT SEA
Gives Passengers on Steamship a Bad Fright

Boston, April 14. A meteor which passed over the vessel and exploded only=
a short distance alarmed passengers on the Leyland liner Bohemia, which =
arrived here from Liverpool, after towing the disabled British steamer Ca=
yo Romano to Hallfax.
The meteor appeared on the steamer's port side in a heavy hailstorm and c=
rossed her bow at great speed. It exploded with a deafening report and bl=
inding glare when apparently about forty feet from the surface of the oce=
an.
Passengers said that they had difficulty in hearing for about ten minutes=
afterward. The lookout in the crew's nest on the foremast was frightened=
, as it seamed to him that the meteor passed very near. When the explosio=
n occurred the flash lighted all parts of the steamer.
