Hi Jerry,

I'm actually in Ireland so I'm British Summer Time. I checked my star
mapping software which unfortunately doesn't give me a precise time for the
occultation but on playing the time sequence forward from 22:30
Texas/Oddessa time, it should begun around 23:00 and have completed by 4:00
AM. I know this is a bit vague, but I hope maybe others on the list may have
precise timing for this event.

It is cloudy here in Ireland so I cannot see anything at the moment it is 00
hrs 32 mins here.

Regards

Ken O'Neill

Hi Ken,

I sure hate to bother you with this, but I've been trying to decipher the
time stamps
(of which there are many) from your email header to determine your time zone
in
order to know what time in my time zone (Central) to be watching and taking
pictures
of the Mars/Lunar occultation.

I think I have your time zone identified as being Pacific, but I'm not
certain.

Would you please email me, if it's convenient, to let me know for sure. And
then
too, it may be a total wash as far as viewing conditions here (Odessa- west
Texas.)
We've been getting a substantial cloud build-up all afternoon from tropical
storm
Claudette.

And thanks for the notification to the list.

Best Regards,

Jerry Wallace

Tonight Wednesday July 16th is the night that brilliant
Mars (mag. -2) will rise v.close to the nearly Full Moon. It should be a
spectacular sight to the naked eye. Look over in the East-to-Southeast
(constellation of Aquarius )just about 22:30 onwards as the pair rise above
the horizon- do not go to bed
without checking out the view which should be an awesome sight. Mars will be
blazing just to the left of the Moon all night. From the southern USA and
parts of South America they will see the Moon pass in front of Mars!
