I have been informed = that the Moroccan government has confiscated its first stone(a 20 or 34 = kilogram mesosiderite C) from a very reliable source. It seems permits = were not honored and old fossil laws were put into play. It is just a = matter of time when these treasures will not be allowed to leave the = country, remember Australia. Sure some enterprising group will try to = work with Algeria or Mauritania to get around Morocco but forget it. I = have heard rumors for a long time but this is the first confirmed case = that a stone was actually confiscated. The ice has been broken now = making it more and more difficult in the future to legally obtain NWA = meteorites. I would consider this first confiscation a wakeup call.
