Hello Everyone,

This was brought up once before on the list, about one or two years ago.
Here was my opinion then and it remains the same.

I take the business defintion. A dealer (of anything) is one who:

Intends to make a profit but sometimes takes a loss.
Keeps accurate records of transactions.
Keeps all receipts related to the transactions.
Depreciates equipment.
Completes the appropriate schedules come tax time.
etc...

Now, please don't misunderstand me. I make no value distinction between and
dealer and collector. I have bought, sold, and traded with both and it
makes no difference to me. One is no "better" or "worse" than the other.
For example, I have gotten great slices of Allende from "dealers" and
"collectors" in past and I really don't care if the person I got it from
depreciates equipment or not on their taxes. I am fairly certain no one
cares if I do :-)

Having said (or actually written) this much, look for something big from
"Branch Meteorites" (collector/dealer/meteorite enthusiast) later on this
month...
