Section "The State of Iowa Occurrences of the Past Week"

The meteor observed speeding across the sky at Dubuque late Sunday aftern=
oon developed a split west of there, one section, a foot in diameter, fal=
ling in a field near Dyersville and the other, weighing more than a ton, =
embedding itself in the earth near Manchester. As the larger piece struck=
the earth many houses were shaken.

Mark note: After this news note was another interesting article which fol=
lows.

Several wagon loads of fossil bones of the saurian or sea serpent (Plesio=
sourus hoskinsi), which were found on the Talbot farm north of Sioux City=
, will be lost to the museum of the Sioux City Academy of Science and Let=
ters unless Curator H.C. Powers succeeds in finding a certain farmer who =
intends to mix them in concrete for a foundation for his farm. The bones =
are the vertebrae of an animal thirty-eight feet long that once inhabited=
 Iowa.

Mark note 2: Meteorites A to Z does not show a meteorite having fallen an=
d recovered at this time.
