Dear Paul. Jim and List,
I'm putting myself way out on a limb here. I joined this list to learn,
learn, learn all I could about meteorites. I feel like a slacker because
, there is so little I can give back to the community, who has given me
so much knowledge. The only advise or contribution I have been able to
make is to try and straighten out or try to "fix" a situation before it
gets out of hand. I am not a big dealer, my knowledge in the field is
limited, but I try to be honest and a straight-shooter, because I really
do care about you all. For the most part, I deeply respect many I've
come to know, and have a sincere fondness for you all, though I will
probably never meet any of you face to face, for your help, when I
needed a question answered, and yes, even your wrath when I committed
my faux-paus earlier ( just after I joined), when I broke what used to
be the number one Cardinal rule: Do Not attack people on List!",
because I knew I had it coming. The Archive, you know.
According to Pauls above statement, I believe that even though some (
lately most) may feel Matteo's recent actions are unfounded and
unforgivable, I can't help but see that he is one of those people who
has been "excluded, based on personal caprise", the fact that as
Americans we can laugh at ourselves, and do, doesn't excuse the fact
that Matteo, and maybe silent others, just do not see the humor in being
Cast in the role of beng characatured as a lying sob( a much harsher
reaming than anyone else got). We as Americans put quite a different
emphasis on roasting each other. Its' OUR way, Does that have to mean,
we can't have tolerancy for other countries ways? Truthfully I really
don't see where Matteo felt he had any other option, to save face, very
important to Italians ( Their Way), but to open his own List.If we
expect him to think OUR way, that seems a little facshist, doesn't it? I
don't think he is trying to destroy our list, or fragment it. We have a
"Chat room", that's not detrimental or a threat to the IMCA list, just
something extra. That's the way I look at his attempt. To learn more,
even though I may not understand his methods, or Business dealings.
about meteorites. I accept it for that, and will check it out. Learn
what I can. I feel I owe you all an explanation., and sincerely hope my
membership with Our List isn't put in jeapardy because of this letter.
Very Best Regards, Marcie

Don't worry Paul. Based on the recent posts against Matteo's views, I =
doubt he will have many people follow him. So he can have a group all =
by himself......and that's a good thing!!!!!

Group

  Good morning Folks,

I've remained silent regarding these recent threads until now. I am =
shaking my head in disbelief. Is all this really necessary Matteo? =
Personal differences between members aside, I hate to see the =
disintegration, or attempted fracturing, of a group which, in the recent =
past has essentially dedicated itself to advancing the science of =
meteoritics. Maybe Rosie, and a few like her, were right some months =
ago when they ceased participating.

There will always be personal differences among such a diverse group =
of people. But in my humble opinion, that is no reason to throw the =
baby out with the bath water....or to advocate it. The advancement of =
science has no room for the exclusion of qualified individuals based =
solely upon personal caprice. It is just ignorant.

  Have a great week all.

  Best Regards,

  Paul Martyn
