One of the nice things = about the study of meteorites is the interdisciplinary nature of the = field. Meteoritics ties together diverse fields such as science, = history, geography, and even art (among others) . So not only would = science students be interested in a talk about meteorites but you can = also include and talk about these other aspects as well. For example, = some of you know that I have a four year old and through meteorites (a = "known" to her), we are starting to talk about different geographical = areas of the world (an "unknown" to her). Meteorites can not only help = students appreciate them for the scientific qualities but they can also = help in learning about other fields as well. The book, Cosmic Debris: Meteorites in History by John Burke is a fine = example of this. It is very difficult to find, but I believe a few list = members sell this book. -Walter ------------------------------------------ www.branchmeteorites.com Walter Branch, Ph.D. Branch Meteorites PO Box 60492 Savannah, GA 31420 ------=_NextPart_000_0053_01C35F3B.B82EF460 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2800.1170" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hello Everyone,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I really enjoyed reading the recent = posts from list=20 members relating their experiences giving talks in front of kids. = One of=20 the nice things about the study of meteorites is the interdisciplinary = nature of=20 the field.
