Hello Michael and List Members,

Applauds to all of you out there (whether you have
posted to the list or not on this matter) for the
efforts you may have put forth in helping promote our
shared interest and hobby. I agree with what's been
said on how important it is for all of us to do this
whenever we have the chance. And not just in only a
"dealer perspective", but mainly because it IS such a
deserving and scientifically important pursuit.

To any of who who may be interested, I would like
to share a little bit of my minor contributions to
this effort. (I hope this does not come off as trying
to "pat myself on the back".)

I have been lucky enough to have fulfilled the
lifelong dream of actually finding quite a few
meteorites in different locations around the world.
This in turn has given me the opportunity to be asked
to speak to various groups such as the Boy scouts,
many classes of schoolchildren and the public in
general at such events as "Star Parties" hosted by our
local planetarium. Although I am by no means a
polished speaker, I will say that all of my
experiences have been very positive, and the
presentations seemed to have been well received. I
usually get lots of questions (and
"after-the-lecture-attention") from the children, as
well as the adults. And when I have had the chance to
give out small meteorites to the kids, it truly gives
me a warm feeling to see their eyes "get big."

These finds have also allowed me and two friends
to start a modest but growing meteorite collection
(there are presently several hundred individuals
representing 27 different falls/finds) here in Little
Rock at the planetarium. The Woolard-Hinkle-Williams
Meteorite Collection is still a "work in progress",
with plans for the construction of a permanent display
pending. For now, the collection is made available for
public display ~ 2-3 times a year. A local TV station
aired a segment on the premiere exhibit, and it has
been in the the newspaper a couple of times.

The point of me saying all of this is that surely
this type of exposure can ONLY help to increase the
number of meteorite enthusiasts! And when this
happens, everybody wins.

Just my two cents worth. Thanks to you who took the
time to read this.

   Very sincerely,

   Robert Woolard
