Well, there could always be some missed ones...;- You can find the list of
the missed finnish potential meteorites from Jarmo Molanens site;

http://www.netppl.fi/~jarmom/geo/met/met_hist_e.htm

We should have some 20 falls / year, but the last find in Finland is from
year 1973. We have now had 3 very potential ones in last 10 months, and
still trying to find something from these during the next summer.

We have a quite large area with few people, lots of lakes and woods, long
winter with a lot of snow and all that kind of things, so this is one
reason,
but also, people here may have meteorites and they don´t know that, so
one problem is to get older material to the day-light and analyzed.

The worst case was Varpaisjärvi in1913. 1 and a half kilo was founded by a
farmer, a local priest got a small fragment, and the material was
analyzed as
a meteorite. The farmer wanted to keep the main mass, and after he died, the
stone was thrown out by the new owners of the house, and this is the
last thing
we know about this main mass...;-

So, the point is, there might be some truth in the old stories and they
may be
worth to check some times...
