The Peekskill car is privately owned and has toured the = world. More people have seen this car than if it had been locked up in = a single museum. It has also been loaned out to museums where it drew = nice crowds. As far as Park Forest impact sites go, we will have a bedroom complete = with all impacted items professionally built into an interpretive = display ready in time for Tucson. This way more people interested in = meteorites will have an opportunity to see what an impact site looks = like, up close and personal. We are working on two other less = substantial displays for the show as well. When we are done taking this = material on the road we will consider donating it to a museum, hopefully = not to be delegated to a dusty back room.=20 All the best, Adam and Greg Hupe, IMCA 2185 ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Jeff Kuyken=20 To: Meteorite List=20 Sent: Friday, April 18, 2003 1:49 AM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Park Forest Meteorite Heading For Field = Museum G'day List, =20 From this article... =20 "The Field Museum in Chicago will pay $10 per gram for the piece." =20 "The village could have sold the meteorite for more money, Muchnik = said, but other potential buyers would not have used it for public = education." =20 It begs the question; will people learn more if the museums get all = these sort of pieces?
