Dear List,
With Moon meteorites, Mars meteorites, and Mercury
meteorites now possible, it's also important to
inquire whether there are Phobos meteorites, Deimos
meteorites, Amalthea meteorites, etc. especially
since these primitive bodies tend to resemble many
other ordinary meteorites anyway.
As more becomes known about the distinguishing
characteristics of these primitive bodies, through
probes such as Muses C, the planned British flotilla
of microprobes, and good telescope reflectance
spectroscopy, it may be possible to identify some
meteorites with those bodies. Accordingly the
composition of all meteorites, and if possible their
reflectance spectosopy in the near IR, should be in a
convenient database.
