I am looking to go alot deeper than Norton. >> The best technical book is "Planetary Materials", J.J. Papike editor. It is published by the Mineralogical Society of America and is Volume 36 of Reviews in Mineralogy. It can be ordered directly from the Mineralogical Society <http://www.minsocam.org>. It is a compliation based on research papers through 1998. Its chapters cover: Planetary sample suite and environments of origin, interplanetary dust particles, chondrites, non-chondritic meteorites from asteroidal bodies, lunar, martian, and comparitive planetary minerology. It can be very technical and understanding much of it requires some scientific background. However it is not always necessary to understand everything in order to learn something. There is a wealth of information in one book and for a book this technical it is still relatively recent. So if you want "to go a lot deeper than Norton" this book will get you there in a hurry.
