I dont like people saying such things. You claim to have been = offered the stone, I do not believe that at all, only one other person = saw that meteorite before we bought it. He was a German buyer.=20 I just want to get this out once and for all Mark, your email hit me by = surprise that is for sure.=20 Let's continue to be friends, I have always considered you a friend, and = hope that you will not help to spread and propagate rumors.=20 Mike Farmer ----- Original Message -----=20 From: MARK BOSTICK=20 To: Michael Farmer ; Meteorite List=20 Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2002 1:15 PM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] NWA482 Total Weight? Clam down a little Mike. Sorry, if you seen that as an attack against = you Mike, it was just something I have wondered about for a while, = something I have heard others wonder about as well...so I asked. I have = no problem with you or Strope and I think you two have done a great job = on getting many of these African meteorite classified. Something we are = all greatfull for.=20 The fact is however, the stone was offered to most of the people that = deal in moroccan meteorites and it was reportably 1278 grams. I do not = know anything about the deal you and the Hupes had in morocco and I do = not claim to know. Also, I have not claimed to have been to morrocco = before Jan. 2001, just that I was offered the stone, as was most of the = people that have purchased meteorites from morocco were offered the = stone and that I was told it was 1278 grams. Believe it or not, you do = not have to go to Morocco to purchase from there. I do not know anything = about troubles you and European dealers have had and I do not think that = has anything to do with me. I have sold some penthouses on eBay, like = the issue with Marilyn Monroes photos, but to say that Penthouse is all = I was selling a year ago is quite far fetched. I have met the Hupes on a couple occasions now and have e-mailed with = them several times. I have purchased from them and sold to them. They = are probley the two most people excited by African meteorites and have = put a lot of time, effort and money into their finds, the hobby is = better off with them around I believe. When I first arrived at Blaine = Reed's room in Denver, Adam took out his latest Mars rock and placed it = in my hand. Being the largest piece of Mars I have ever touched I = thought that was pretty cool. =20 NWA482 is a very nice meteorite and most of your investors are quite = happy so I think you can consider that a success. I purchased a 0.170 = gram piece from Jim Strope many months ago and am quite happy with it. = It has a glass vein and a bump on the crust from a flow line, what more = could you ask for in a small specimen? Not sure of any legal trouble I could get into asking a question and = saying what I was told before you even had the stone. Unlike you own = e-mail, I did not mention any dealer or person in a negative way. This = is possibly an error or a misleading on a moroccan dealers part, however = I do not feel wrong is asking from more information. Wow Mark, you sure know alot for having been selling nothing but = Penthouse porno mags back then. How did you see it if you have never = been to Africa? That would be a neat trick. I have a sworn statement as = to the weight by the man who sold it to Jim and I, sworn in front of the = police in Er Rachidia Province of Morocco, filed in Rabat, Er Rachidia, = and Erfoud. I have made a scan of this and will post it in a few hours = to anyone who would like to see it.=20 Mark, we all know that the rumors flew after the purchase of that = rock, all coming from other dealers, most in Europe, who did not see or = buy the stone, but needless to say, were not happy by Jim and I swooping = in and buying up the second largest lunar meteorite ever found right = from under their noses. Sounds like sour grapes to me. The Hupes are now = trying to corner the market in Morocco, as they arrived there last = Friday night as I was leaving Africa. In doing so, they are now it = seems, trying to spread some dissent among my suppliers and customers. I = hope they decide to call me ASAP while on their way back to Seattle, = before I have to let out a little more damaging information tonight. Mark, you and Dean need to get help, show us all your passport that = shows you were in Morocco before Jan 2001, Ill bet you cant can you? It = is easy to scan or photograph, if you cant, then I suggest you not lie = about any knowledge of things like that. It could get you into heavy = legal trouble.=20 Mike Farmer ----- Original Message -----=20 From: MARK BOSTICK=20 To: Meteorite List=20 Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2002 10:26 AM Subject: [meteorite-list] NWA482 Total Weight? Hello list, I am curious....when the lunar meteorite NWA482 was being offered = around morocco it was 1278 grams and not 1015 as later reported. Most = of us thought it was a eucrite and the asking price of $10.00 was too = much, ala over $10,000. (Wish I would have known its real origin then). = Anyway....what happened to the other 250 grams? Was this cut off in = Morocco and if so where is it now. A few small pieces were cut off in = Morocco but what appeared missing was small enough that several photo = angles could be taken and you not see the window or windows. =20 So either, there is two NWA482 stones, 250 grams got lost?, or the = moroccans have a very bad scale. Does anyone else know more about this?
