Kim,

If this crater is to the SW of Meteor Crater, then it is a test crater
that was created to see what the results would be in similar strata
when it was blown outward by conventional explosives. I don't
remember the specifics, but have seen high altitude photos of it and
read about its creation. Other list members may have further info.
