M. Holzinger, of the Winona normal = school faculty, says that the meteor observed on Saturday evening was rea= lly a remarkable phenomenon. It was observed not only at Winona, but at L= acrosse, Wis., Rushford, Fountain City, St. Charles and Caledonia, Minn. = At both St. Charles and Fountain City it is claimed that following the bu= rsting of the meteor there was a distinct shocl, as if the meteor had str= uck the earth, and at Fountain City it is claimed this was strong enough = to make the dishes rattle, and produced teh effects of an earthquake. A f= urther claim is made that one of the fragments came to the earth near St.= Charles. =20 The meteor was first observed near the constellation Leo and moved from t= here in a southwesterly direction. Prof. Holzinger says it was about as l= arge as a half moon.
