This alert is applicable to subscribed and non-subscribed PC systems running any version of Windows, Outlook, Outlook Express or any imap or pop client for e-mail (including Eudora). Virus Name:W32.Bugbear_at_mm Variations:W32/Bugbear-A, WORM_BUGBEAR.A, Win32.Bugbear, W32/Bugbear_at_MM, I-Worm.Tanatos, W32/Bugbear Systems Affected:Windows 95-98, Windows NT-2000, Windows XP-Me Not Affected:Macintosh, Unix, Linux Virus Type:Worm Definition File Date: 10/2/2002 Action Required: 1) Do NOT open or preview e-mail messages from unknown senders. 2) Delete any email that you believe is infected or suspect. 3) Run LiveUpdate to get the latest pattern files (10/2/2002), if needed. 4) If you receive suspect e-mails, scan your disk with NAV. Description: W32.Bugbear_at_mm is a mass-mailing worm. It can also spread through network shares. It has keystroke-logging and backdoor capabilities. The worm also attempts to terminate the processes of various antivirus and firewall programs. The worm does not properly handle the network resource types, it may flood shared printer resources, which causes them to print garbage or disrupt their normal functions.
