Being new to the life of collecting them pesky rocks from space, I haven't had the opportunity to read to many books yet! Besides Norton's Two great books, I found " meteorites, messengers from space" (F.heide & F. wlotzka) a informitive book; so therefore my favorite!(tough question without Norton). The book I would like to read (I haven't even seen a copy) Is the " Catalogue of Meteorites". The bonus question; I want so badly to see a comprehensive text on METEORITE HUNTING FOR BEGINNERS. A book describing the characteristics of fresh and weathered rocks from space. I have found, probably, like a lot of you, that there are to many terrestrial rocks that can resemble space rocks, ie; magnatite and rocks with meneral stains and desert varnish, and to many rocks can be picked up with a magnet!<BR>A book with pictures, lots of pictures, showing, not polorized veiws of chondrules, but of them in there natural state. Pictures of fusion crusts and desert varnish. A b ook with as many chapters on meteor -wrongs as meteor - rights. It seems like most books & web sites imply that If a rock does not have "metal flakes", a dark crust, chondrules, and a magnet does not stick to it then its not a space rock!!!!!!!!!! Well one look on E-Bay Blows that theory out of the water! A weathered Achondrite, moon rook and Mars rocks don't fit any of those "rules". I think we all could benifit from a book that explains that!! Thanks, Tom <BR></P> <DIV></DIV> <P><BR><BR></P> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>From: "Mark Bostick" <THEBIGCOLLECTOR_at_MSN.COM> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>To: <METEORITE-LIST_at_METEORITECENTRAL.COM> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>Subject: [meteorite-list] METEORITE CONTEST #5 - FREE BOOKS! <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>Date: Sun, 21 Jul 2002 09:12:19 -0500 <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>MIME-Version: 1.0 <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>X-Originating-IP: [63.15.252.205] <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>>Received: from [216.92.1.92] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id MHotMailBF040FA0009C4136E853D85C015C06980;
