But in my last post, I was just agreeing with what Dean had said in his previous posts. He said many things, but I think his key paragraph requires repeating. Here is what he said: "To call it NWA 801 like some dealers are doing would be wrong. NWA 801 refers to a very defined and specific amount of the fall and a very specific amount of the mass. If another 150 gram stone was classified it would be entitled to a new NWA name with a total mass of 150 grams and a totally different main mass to go along with it. If a new 150 gram one was named NWA 1506 for example and it was not cut it would have a main mass of 150 grams. We may know that it is paired with NWA 801, but it wouldn't be a part of NWA 801." I think Dean did a good job of explaining how the current system works. But does this mean that he AGREES with how it works? No, of course not. He just understands that in order to get this style of naming convention changed, you have to know how it works, first. Then propose a more workable solution. But whatever alternative system is proposed, the first hurdle will be getting everyone to agree on who gets to determine the "obvious pairings"!
