A cool way to avoid sending a virus to others from=20
your address book.

As you may know, if/when a worm virus gets into=20
your computer it heads straight for your address=20
book and sends itself to everyone in there, thus=20
infecting all your friends and associates. This trick=20
won't keep the virus from getting into your computer,=20
but it will stop it from using your address book to=20
spread further, and it will alert you to the fact that the=20
worm has gotten into your system.

Here's what you do:

First, open your address book and click on "new=20
contact" just as you would do if you were adding a=20
new friend to your list of email addresses. In the=20
window where you would type your friend's first=20
name, type in !000 (that's an exclamation mark=20
followed by three zeros).

In the window below where it prompts you to enter
the new email address, type in WormAlert. Then=20
complete everything by clicking OK, enter, add, etc. =20

Now, here's what you've done and why it works:=20
the "name" !000 will be placed at the top of your=20
address book as entry #1. This will be where the=20
worm will start in an effort to send itself to all your=20
friends. But when it tries to send itself to !000, it=20
will be undeliverable because of the phony email=20
address you entered (WormAlert). If the first=20
attempt fails (which it will because of the phony=20
address), the worm goes no further and your friends=20
will not be infected.

Here's the second great advantage of this method:=20
if an email cannot be delivered, you will be notified=20
of this in your In Box almost immediately. Hence, if=20
you ever get an email telling you that an email=20
addressed to WormAlert could not be delivered,=20
you know right away that you have the worm virus
in your system. You can then take steps to get rid of it!

Pretty slick huh?

If everybody you know does this then you needn't ever=20
worry about opening mail from friends. Pass this on to=20
all your friends.
