The Nomenclature Committee gets together every so often and votes o= n names Many times a meteorite is sold before it is named and many times= the Nomenclature Committee has decided on a different name then the name= used by Meteorite dealers and collectors. Hadeja.....:-) will have to w= ait untill it gets voted on before it has any "official" name. =20 Steve Arnold wrote: "It hurts me when I get private emails saying that I = do not know what I am saying." It is common for one dealer to get a met= eorite before anyone else, but usually in a timespan of weeks. Eric Twel= ker has done a great job and getting us nice meteorites for our collectio= ns. Tagish Lake being another great example. So the question I would ha= ve is not, what will the name be, but rather, what will Eric find next? =20 Mark Bostick Wichita, Kansas ------=_NextPart_001_0002_01C2A91A.34130220 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
<BODY BGCOLOR=3D"#ffffff" STYLE=3D"font:10pt verdana; border:none;b= ackground-color:#ffffff; ">
Mike Tettenbon wrote: "Correct me if I'm wrong but, doesn't one have to wait until the classifi= cation is published by the Nomen= clature Committee of the Meteoritical Society befor= e anyone can say for sure what the official name is?
