I hunted last year before the Meteorite Birthday Boy's party, My Friend = and I had a great time walking around the desert. I don't believe only 2 large pieces are all there is, 1,513 and 633 = pounds, I do believe it's a very old fall, Mid to Late Pleistocene Fall. The original finder a Blacksmith who used it as a anvil, told others it = was native iron from a canyon called Puerto de los Muchachos in the = Santa Rita Mountains. I believe he hunting for Hematite for making raw iron and came upon it. = There's hematite in a only few of the washes around the west side Santa = Rita Mountains. I believe it can be found on the bottom of washes or eroding from the = side of Pleistocene deposit. Not on or near the surface or on the top's = of the mesa's. There one Big catch, Most of the land is state land, If you find it on = state land, you must let it be, you can notify ASU, They can recover it, = Maybe cut you in on a piece. Anyway its a nice day in the desert, only 1/2 hour from the Tucson Show = and civilization. Anyone interested. Thanks and my Best to all.
