I was sure confused = because no book or websource indicated Africa for moldavite except these = sellers. So, I did some more looking and found this to compare: Moldavite-It occurs in black or green, and offers a refractive index of = 1.25-1.59. The hardness is a 5-6, and the specific gravity is 2.5. It = is amorphous in nature, without a crystal structure. Can sometimes be = directly associated with meteorite=20 impact craters. Notable Occurrences include Moldavia region of Eastern = Europe; Thailand and southeast Asia; Australia and Georgia, USA.=20 Olivine-hardness 6.5-7, sp gr 3.27-3.37=20 African Moldavite-This is a Bright Rich Green Colored material. Running = about 99% +/-parcel clean with most pieces Glassy Eye Clean or near to = it. Sizes from 10cts to 40cts+/-. Simply stunning when cut, This = material OUT SELLS TANZANITE 4 to 1, You could say it is Tanzania's no1 = selling Glass,,,, This cuts Beautiful Bright Stones and it comes from a = VERY REMOTE JUNGLE LOCATION AND IS MINED FROM A RIVER. The material is GLASSY EYE CLEAN as the locals who bring it to us have = already trimmed it with a grinder into roundish ball shapes to remove = any rubbish particles. Some of the current material is very large and = contains Bubbles and foldings unlike we have seen before.=20 >From our EXTENSIVE Enquiries, WE BELIEVE IT TO BE GENUINE NATURAL = VOLCANIC GLASS. However we have recieved reports that it may be manmade, = One report said that because it contains chromium it MUST be Man made as = natural glass doesnt contain chromium, We say the majority of gemstones = and minerals in Tanzania contain Chromimum, that is why they have such = great colors!. All we can say is that, there is 'NO INDUSTRY' where this comes from and = only jungle tracks to it's location. It may be possible that it is VERY = Ancient Glass.=20 (note here that there isn't a "real" chemical analysis given but they = can almost quote reports, and this discription is found on two websites = on the web (a briefed version on one website where the website owner = claims it as his #1 ebay seller ) So, its a very misleading name, and may be deliberatly misleading to = supply the metaphysical sector with a stone they desire in ever greater = quantities Thanks again folks, I was pretty sure I was dealing with a name ripoff = but wanted to verify with others.
