He argues that there is a single mesosiderite parent body, that it is located in the inner part of the asteroid belt, and that it is a differentiated body. Mesosiderites were created by a low-velocity impact (< 1 km/sec) of a metallic, largely molten body with the basaltic crust of this differentiated asteroid, very early in the asteroid's history.
