These are photos that I received today from Pennsylvania. Supposedly = this was found on a farm years ago and has been kept in the family. = They said it is extremely heavy for it's size. No word yet if it = attracts a magnet. The puzzling thing is that it if it was a meteorite = it looks like it has been sandblasted much like Oum Rokba which would be = impossible in a wet environment like Pennsylvania. Recent guesses are: hematite nodule, jasper, water deposited specimen of Goethite(Fe3O4, = Hematite Here are the photos again: http://www.geocities.com/nwa482/DSCF0014.jpg http://www.geocities.com/nwa482/DSCF0015.jpg http://www.geocities.com/nwa482/DSCF0017.jpg Jim Strope 421 Fourth Street Glen Dale, WV 26038 Catch a Falling Star Meteorites http://www.catchafallingstar.com ------=_NextPart_000_003A_01C1E86E.D146A8C0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4913.1100" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV>I'll add one more possibility to the list of=20 possibilities-- knowing that it is from Pennsylvania-- siderite = (iron=20 carbonate) precipitated on limestone boulder from a stream = polluted by=20 acid mine drainage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>--Paul</DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE dir=3Dltr=20 style=3D"PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; = BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message ----- </DIV> <DIV=20 style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt arial; font-color: = black"><B>From:</B>=20 <A title=3Djim_at_catchafallingstar.com = href=3D"mailto:jim_at_catchafallingstar.com">Jim=20 Strope</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A=20 title=3Dmeteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com=20 href=3D"mailto:meteorite-list_at_meteoritecentral.com">Meteorite = Central</A> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Saturday, April 20, 2002 = 10:00=20 AM</DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> [meteorite-list] What = could this=20 be - part 2</DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV>More on the photos I posted earlier.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>These are photos that I received today from Pennsylvania. =20 Supposedly this was found on a farm years ago and has been kept in the = family.
