However, Allende is in central Mexico - not Argentina or Portugal & MOST people consider "proper" pronunciation to be the way a location name is pronounced in the area in which it is located. This is a topic that could go on FOREVER, with good arguments made for a variety of pronunciation of MANY meteorites - for instance, we pronounce the French city of Paris, Pare-iss - there, it is pronounced, Par-ee. Whatcha gunna do?
